                                       Distribution.

This area comes up so often and i constantly get asked on how you strike a ball.

There are 5 key steps to striking a stationary ball.

1) Tee the ball up.( Find an area to prop the ball up so as to give you the best chance of good contact).

2) Angle of approach. ( To get good distance you need to have a relatively straight run up, not a David Beckham like approach

3) Look at your target once or twice. ( It's a good idea to know where you want to hit the ball).

4) Attack the ball with a long last step. ( the long final step creates the power).

5) Keep your head down when you strike the ball. ( Don't look up to admire how far you have hit the ball until it leaves your foot).

All the above steps rely upon the amount of time spent working on them, Rome wasn't built in a day so practice every day if possible. I hope this helps you to start striking the ball more consistently; repetition, repetition.

Keeping the distribution thing going, i would normally at the end of each session work on ball striking. I try to work on goalkicks (stationary), rolling balls ( these include balls coming towards you and moving away.Taking a touch and first time strikes. You have to play around with the angle to simulate how they come in to you during a game). Add some throws in there, under arm, javelin type throws and over arm with the emphasis on getting ball to feet as early as possible. Finally hand deliversd strikes of volley, half volley (drop kick) and the most technically difficult side volley. I recommend you work on this at every session to keep good consistency. My final point on this although there are a lot more, is to work both feet if possible. Maybe 3 on your good  foot to 1 on the other side and increase the frequency as better technique is developed. There will definately be a time where the ball has to be cleared on your weaker side so work on that as well.
